George Murray was born and raised in Wilmington, North Carolina. After high school, he spent four years in the Air Force before attending the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. He graduated in 1975 with a business degree in Economics and later went back to fulfill his accounting degree from Barton College. After 26 years in corporate accounting as a financial analyst and Division Controller, he left to pursue his dream to open his own business, Murray Art in 2004. Portraiture has always been a passion, drawing iconic heroes of his younger years. He is the Official Artist for Margaret Kerry’s book, “Tinker Bell Talks” (tinkerbelltalks.com) and he is the Official Artist of the Andy Griffith Show 50th Anniversary print. Hundreds of George’s prints are donated, each year, for various charities to raise money for children with disabilities and those less fortunate.
